It was just a pain in the a$$,car sitting in the 100 degree weather all day long, all the cleaning and detailing and the car still looked like $hit.I did it once.

Shows suck. I go to socialize and walk around. I'll wash the car, but that's about it.

For me, I would rather be on the track than in a lounge chair.

Z51Jeff, there were 4 other ZR-1's at the show, two Ruby's, one black and my White. Have to admit your White/Red was looking good. I go to see/talk to other ZR-1 owners, new and those that have been with the car for years. Sorry I didn't get to talk with you, did see you drive in, you must have pre-registered as you had a good parking spot.

Are you going to the mile shootout in LV or to Thunderhill for Corvette Days on Oct 9th.? Sign up and drive the car instead of sitting watching folks walk by, you won't be disappointed.

I saw your white 93,nice car.I was surprised to see 5 other cars there. There was a 90 at the end of the street.I did pre register was was pi$$ed when I was prevented from parking in the preferred parking area even though there were spots open.Just the whole scene of car baking in the sun all day long, sitting on a lawn lawn, all day long. Not for me but I did it once.Ill have to agree with Jeff, wash the car and call it a day.On a side note.Ive owned Corvettes for more 23 years and the impression I always come away with as far as Corvette Clubs goes,a bunch of snob a$$holes and some officials at this show lived up to that impression.Ill have to pass on LV.my work hours suck.Do you ever hang out in the Northern Calif section?Lots of get togethers.

I don't enjoy showing my cars either, but when I go to a show, I have it clean so that others can admire. Recently I took my Z06 to a car show and won a silver award. The wife and I cleaned it up about an hour before the show.

Part of the hobby is meeting people, having conversation, and educating them about the Corvette. I took the ZR-1 out a week ago, and while gassing it up a gentleman walked around it and said, "That's a real ZR-1" right? We talked about the car for another fifteen minutes.

Corvette Shows will always be about 2 things:

1) The newest and the baddest Corvette.
2) Vintage Corvettes

The ZR-1 is a legend but its still not vintage status.

I remember when the ZR-1 came out, the attention at shows was unreal. Even into the late 90's.

Alot of first time Corvette buyers bought into C5's and C6's. They know very little of C4's. As a matter of fact, if you don't have your hood up at a show, most won't even walk down the aisle to glance at your car.

Over the years I've noticed there are different types of people at shows:

1) Guys who tell you about the special Corvette they had that was a one off by GM and how it is better then what you own.
2) Lots of old men wearing Corvette sneakers.
3) Guys who need their ego fed and have tons of Bling.
4) Guys who have no clue about the real purpose of a Car Show.
5) Cool Car Enthusiasts

You go because of 5)

I used to show my Corvette at least twice a year. Now I've shown it twice in the last 5 years. I have a decent amount of trophies and don't need anymore. Shows are very political and you know whether or not you have a nice Corvette, you don't need a judge to tell you that. Plus, the general methods of car shows are screwed up anyway. If your ZR-1 has 5,000 miles on it and its never driven, how is a guy with 60,000 miles going compete against that? I think that mileage should be considered when judging cars.

Shows are about fun, networking and meeting up with friends and making new friends. Shows are not fun on hot days and best in the spring and fall.
You will find that what makes shows worthwhile is the quality time with your friends or the new friends you meet. At every show, there will typically be one or two guys who really appreciate the car and know what the car represents. I can never see myself bringing my C5 to a show.

Your car is really sharp by the way. It's time will come soon enough!

Here are a few guys eyeing the Lt5 in 2005.
