Default New Alpine Radio Unit

After long battle with myself, I finally pulled the trigger and had a new radio unit installed with new speakers. This Alpine unit looks like it was made for the dash. The fit looks like a factory fit. Why the battle with myself is I had dropped a few hundred dollars over the years keeping the Bose System functioning but that's all it was doing was functioning I was never happy with the sound. I heard someone say not to long ago, No Highs, No Lows, it must be a Bose. The other struggle was trying to keep the car as much stock as possible. I can honestly say after today, that is no longer a concern.

The system has clean crisp sound and having all my Music at my fingertips through Apple CarPlay was awesome. Siriusxm, Pandora, Amazon Music, Iheart, Tunein are there. Waze and Apple Maps... the unit required zero modification. The unit is a Alpine ILX-W650. Available at Crutchfield.

In Illinois July 1st if you are caught with a phone in your hand it is a moving violation, three and you lose your license. With bluetooth the handsfree is nice. Made a call while driving and while they could hear me shifting and the sound they could also hear me clearly...

Keith,
That is a good looking set up!!
I've recently spent over a grand on my stock Bose. Removed it all and had it refurbished. Everything works now, but the sad thing is I normally leave the radio off and just enjoy the beautiful LT5 sound!

That looks great.

Did you do the installation yourself? What is the ballpark cost for your new stereo (total)? the head unit itself, at $300, looks like a lot of bang for the buck.

As a side comment, I have an aftermarket head unit with the Bose speakers (I used that adapter kit), and I'm very happy with my sound. I kinda feel lucky that it has worked out well. One reason I decided to go that route was my car stereo friend says installing door speakers in a C4 is a challenge. That was 5 years ago. Maybe that's no longer the case.

The head unit is at Crutchfield for $ 299.00. I did not do the install I had a local installer who does a lot of Corvettes and was very familiar with the C4 do it. For everything the head unit, 4 speakers and installation the bill was $ 880.00.

Yes - he placed it where to the lower right of the steering wheel - it is the black spot where the hard dash and the carpeted dash come together. No one has seamed to have issue hearing me...
