Question Leaking Pinion Seal

I just purchased a '95 (white/black) with 9,200 miles. Drove it home from the dealership and the rear pinion seal is leaking. I believe 4:10 gears were installed at some point. The dealership shop just replaced the seal in November so I assume there must be another issue. I'm unsure what gear lube was installed. The car drives/runs great and the rear diff does not make noise.

Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!

One of my winter projects is to replace the pinion seal on my 1993. I posted about it on this forum, https://www.zr1.net/forum/showthread.php?t=35020
It may help with some of your questions. I also post this on the Corvette Forum and got some feedback that provided some insite to the vintage parts on my car.

Congratulations on your '95! Since you are now the owner of a old but new to you Z, and since you are fairly close to Chicago, I would strongly recommend contacting Marc Haibeck (www.ZR1specialist.com) in Addison Illinois and consider shipping (or driving) the car to his shop when he can get you in. You probably know him but if not he is the ZR-1 expert around here. Your car is new to you and may be in need of servicing and other things that you might not even think of. When I bought my19,000 mile 2 owner '95, the first thing I did was send it to Marc for a thorough going over. He changed all the fluids, including diff, engine, coolant, etc. checked everything (the serp belt was original and hanging on by a thread, found an alarm system wired in (unknown to me) which he removed, installed new plugs, made sure it was running perfectly and so on. Not very expensive and it was like having a new car. It will be money well spent if you do. Good luck with it! --Bob
