Anti freeze
Just wondering what everyone is using. I know that dex cool is a disaster. I just changed it over the weekend with napa green. It says it meets GM 1825 M but it also says it's low silicate and safe for "all" systems. That has me a little worried as I remember something about the "safe for all systems" stuff being a potential problem too. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to destroy my head gaskets.
TIA, Michael

Re: Anti freeze
I use the green stuff from Napa, mixed my own 50/50 plus a little water wetter, full drain and flush when I did the water pump. 95 degrees in traffic and it's just fine.
Funny how different groups have different opinions. In the 928 crowd (similar aluminum OHC engine), Dexcool is the ONLY thing they will use and if you put the green stuff in you will be shunned. I used it for years in a couple different 928s, 944s and other cars, and had no issues whatsoever. But when I did the water pump and hoses in the Z, I took everyone's advice here and went green. Whatever works.

Re: Anti freeze
Thanks guys. The stuff from napa is green and says it meets 1825 M spec so it's probably fine. The fact that it said low silicate formula made me a little nervous. I just learned the actual 1825M is still available from GM. I think I'll order a case of that.
