BRASELTON, Ga. – The Corvette Racing team featuring two-time American Le Mans Series GTS Champion Ron Fellows, Johnny O’Connell, Max Papis, Oliver Gavin, Olivier Beretta and Jan Magnussen will be a force to reckon with at the upcoming 10-hour spectacular road race known as Petit Le Mans. Their strong fan base of Corvette owners will have a presence unmatched at any previous ALMS event.

Plans are underway for an ALMS/IMSA GM sponsored “Chevy Presents Corvette Corral @ Petit Le Mans” co-hosted by The National Corvette Museum and The Official C5 Registry. The Corvette-only Corral will accommodate 400 plus cars.

Three fun-filled days of racing, informative seminar presentations, distinguished celebrities and all around Corvette-camaraderie are in store for this unique breed of loyal
road racing enthusiasts.

Starting on Thursday with the opening of the “Chevy Presents Corvette Corral @ Petit Le Mans,” a behind the scene tour of the Corvette Racing paddock, welcome remarks by IMSA Race Director, Marty Kaufman and tentative plans include “Corvette Parade” and photo opportunity on the legendary Road Atlanta race track for all.

Friday starts bright and early with the arrivals of three planned Corvette Caravans, followed by a fun display and Corvette Celebrity Pick Car Show. A chance to show off their pride and joy will surely create excitement within the Corral as invited Corvette Celebrities have a chance to judge the field, rewarding the lucky owners with a special trophy at Saturday’s award presentations.

A lucky Corvette enthusiasts in attendance will get a chance to participate in not only drawings for a “hot lap” in the ALMS Official Pace Car but also the honor of being an official entrant flag bearer at the pre-race ceremonies on Saturday of the “Chevy Presents Petit Le Mans.”

Capping off the Friday’s recognition ceremony will be the announcement of the winner of the coveted “Best In Show” award. The winning enthusiast and a passenger will have the prestige of driving their winning Corvette as part of the official pre-race parade at the race start on Saturday.

Also, a special auction to benefit the National Corvette Museum will be presented. The winning bid will entitle a lucky Corvette owner and passenger to have their Corvette as part of the official pre-race parade and pace car “flying lap.”

The weekend continues on Saturday with the “Chevy Presents Petit Le Mans for the American Le Mans Series (Round 8) Race – 1,000 miles or 10 hours maximum.” Surely not to miss an opportunity to meet and greet two of Corvette’s top men, Dave Hill, Corvette Chief Engineer and GM Performance Cars VLE and retired Corvette Chief Engineer, Dave McLellan. Planned activities also include trophy presentations to the winners of Friday’s Celebrity Choice Car Show, and Most Club Members Participation and Longest Distance Driven Awards.
