Parking brake resistance
Merry Christmas,
Hello all, I have a question. My Z was transported around 450 miles on a flat bed truck car carrier. When they delivered it the parking brake lever was sticking straight up, so I had to push it down to get into the car. They told me the had to crank up the brake lever for the trip. The problem is there is a lot of resistance now in the lever and I have to move it manually instead of having no resistance and the lever would fall itself. I drove the car seeing if the resistance would be relieved. It did nothing to the resistance in the lever. Other than the hard resistance of the lever the parking brake does work. Any suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated. Joel

Re: Parking brake resistance
It might be rust build up at pivot point for the lever. And, I emphasize might. Easy check is WD40 at lever pivot point and up and down movement of the lever. Best would be to pull the cover off and spray WD40 on moving parts and exercising all moving parts.

Re: Parking brake resistance
You know that you have to push in the button on the top of the handle to free the handle, then push it down. Did you do that or just try to force the handle down?

Re: Parking brake resistance
I can set and release the parking brake. The issue is that there is so much more resistance on the lever that you have to move the lever manually instead of just letting it flop down.
