Differential Carrier removal
Hi guys, how are you all???
I'm Max from Italy. I need to open the differential, but i'll like to remove only the carrier leaving the differential in place. it's possible to do? Someone of you already do the same? Thanks in advance Max |

Hi Max, personally I would suggest if you need to do maintenance on the differential it’s easier and not much extra effort to put it on the workbench for service.
If it’s only seal replacement of shimming you can leave it under the car. And if you take your rear suspension off, have a look at the bushings. If you didn’t change them out in the past they are worn/ aged too. The Service Manual can become handy. |

Hi Max, yes you can remove te Batwing, hold the differential case at level with a jack stand/ or wood.
Maybe a good opertunity and clean the diff and make a drain plug in the unit. Dynomite made a good explanation how to... |

Hi Max,
When you search a bit on the technical part of this forum there is a lot of information to find: http://www.zr1.net/forum/showthread.php?t=16778 A Service manual from your build year and proper tools will be handy, do your homework before. And make pictures for yourself to look back as reference. Use of and torque wrench is recommended. It’s not a 5 minute job you are going to do, let’s say two days if it’s the first time. |
