Black top or colored top?
For those who do not own a black Z, do you prefer to drive with the solid color matching top or the black clear top?

Re: Black top or colored top?
Loaded question for sure!
I just like the way the car looks form the side with the body color top on, as it picks up the halo and completes it. With the tinted top, it blends in with all of the other glass and blacked out trim, which many may like, but it seems to break it up too much. I am sure "your mileage may vary" Marty |

Re: Black top or colored top?
Black car and top that looks black whether
bronze or blue? Doesn’t make a whole lot of difference... See thru top is 10 lbs lighter but fiberglass top is cooler in some climates... |

Re: Black top or colored top?
I use the clear black top with a tint on it to keep sunlight to minimum.
Also it is lighter but does give the car a different look. I feel I really need some black 18" wheels with the color combo.

Re: Black top or colored top?
You need the solid top for high speed corners to protect the windshield from flex.

Spring/Fall - transparent top (Blue tint). Summer - body color top (White).

Re: Black top or colored top?
I think our cars look so much better with the painted top. I sold my original painted top when I 1st got the car years ago, needed the money for headers and didn't think I would ever use it. Now many years later I bought a used blue top, had it painted red, and redid the headliner. I probably have a $1000.00 dollars in the solid color top, but it makes the car.

I prefer the black top on mine. It gets to hot with the tinted top for me.

Re: Black top or colored top?
I use the blue top November thru February. The red painted top the rest of the year. The blue top is lighter and not as rigid but I can't really tell the difference when driving.I can definitely tell the difference in the suns rays here in Florida.

Re: Black top or colored top?
I’ll put the glass top on the car every once in awhile to break things up but the black cars got the best of both worlds, transparent top but dark so it doesn’t break up the look of the car.
