Smile Looking to Buy ZR1

Hello Gentlemen -

I'm in the market for a ZR1. Looking seriously about 8 months. I'm currently a 93' C4 owner (2nd owner since 2002) so I have some knowledge and my Father was a multiple Corvette owner. Ideally, I would like to purchase a 1994-1995 ZR1. Dark purple, blue and yellow come to mind. I don't want a project .... more like a well cared for Z. Right now I'm looking at a local 94' yellow and 95' yellow in Texas. The 94' has no Dunn Heads and the 95' has Dunn Heads - whatever that means?

The 94 - 48k miles one owner Z.

The 95' - 7k miles very well cared for Z.

Advice / Comments Appreciated.

Thanks for having me.

The 95s are arguably a bit more valuable because they're last-year cars. Cars with 2 Dunn heads are even more valuable. That yellow 95 in Amarillo is beautiful and well-priced, and he's even offering a shipping concession that would probably cover most of your costs. I haven't seen it in person but it looks like it will need nothing, so it would probably be cheaper than the higher-mile local car in the long run. I just went through the same thing and If I had it to do over again, I would have skipped over mine and spent more for a near-perfect example. JMO.

Good luck!

The 95s "as is" are real cream puffs: all the C4 refinements therein. But, unless you're optimizing re-sale value as your ultimate goal, I wouldn't give the Dunn heads a lot of thought. Primarily, because even with very conservative porting, it is possible to eclipse the small advantage realized in the Dunn heads. But, in concert with the rest of the car, the 95s hold the highest price tag; coming or going, "as is".

I agree,100%. I knew David Tate, the original owner of the Yellow 95 who has since passed away. I've also known the present owner, Don Roden, for over fifteen years. He really takes care of his cars.

Looks like a great car!!!!

Check the weatherstrip (in good condition?), wheels (make sure they are original wheels chromed), tires (date code and make) and maintenance done to it

Shame I was just in orlando the past 2 days and could have checked it out

Drive it and see for yourself!!

The first thing that comes to mind for me is be sure you know what you really want.

The two cars you posted are entirely different animals. The 95 car in Texas is show ready Bloomington/NCRS. This car will be difficult to drive and maintain it's pristinism....lol is that a word?

The second car appears to be loved and owned by a ZR-1 person. This car having the 48k miles will be a driver and has been modified ie: tinted windows and chrome wheels.

To get the second car back to stock form your talking some fold over bills, while the first car is there. To modify the first car will require some fold over money as well.

12k difference in price is substantial, if your looking for a pristine under 10k mile 95 be preparred for 40k period, and know to maintain the investment you will not be able to drive it much.

If you want a driver find one with 50k, and above and save yourself alot of money, not to mention worry.

Best of luck in your search.
