Default Road&Track June 1990 - Mid-Engine ZR-1

A friend came across this and thought of me, so he snapped it up and gave it to me for me birthday.

Not sure if it has been seen here, a quick look didn't net any results.

When did the CERVIII come out? Cause it was powered by the LT5.

Seems like it debuted January 1990 at the International Auto Show in Detroit. The Nivola in the article here debuted at the 1990 Geneva Auto Show which was held in March.

Maybe some of the claim comes from the Nivola being street legal at the time.

I believe they started on the Indy (Later called the CERVIII) in 1986.

I personally think the Indy/CERVIII was a better looking car than this Bertone concept.

I've read that one of the Indy/CERVIII prototypes was fully functional, which is rare for most concept cars; however the project was only for R&D because a full productuon road going version would have been too expensive to produce for GM at the time.

Cost for the consumer would have been somewhere in the neighborhood of $300k-$400k when the ZR-1 cost $60k.

I do agree the CERVIII is better looking.

This is the first I've seen this and I've been following anything ZR-1 since the mid/late 80s. That car definitely looks European and it's not an attractive one at that.
