Help...Dropped Hood and Engine Died Today
Had the engine idling today just looking it over with my Dad and when I dropped the hood the engine died as if the key were shut off... It wont restart at this point. This happened about a month ago, but it restarted immediately... I didnt think too much of it after that..
Tried Dynomites code reader and its not flashing the code 12 or any others... Im thinking the ecm had a bad solder joint and maybe broke free, but not sure. Where would a good point begin for troubleshooting? In my effort to try to get it restarted, I pulled the battery cables to try a reset... so Im not sure if codes will show up. The cooling fan immediately turns on with the key like when you have the scan tool connected... Turns over strong, battery is in top condition... just wont fire.

Re: Help...Dropped Hood and Engine Died Today
ECM is right there at hood latch, if it is out of alignment, closing hood probably knocked a connector or PROM loose? Just an off hand guess.

Re: Help...Dropped Hood and Engine Died Today
You are correct on the PROM coming loose... the hood is fine and not out of alignment... The fault is my own... I saw one of the little lock bails was not clicked over like the other one... I was trying to be gentle when I installed it after the top end went back together last time....Seems I was a little too gentle and didnt get it locked... Bullet dodged!
