You opened that can of worms. Do we have many gun owners here? I carry a .38 special. 10MM in the car and a safe full of others.

Vietnam vet. NRA Life member. Past NRA certified instructor in Home Defense; Gun safety and marksmanship in rifle, handgun and shotgun. Current owner of many long guns and handguns. Past CCW licensed.

As a senior I have witnessed many realities in this world. I have seen people's lives ruined after excersizing their "right" to self defense.

I believe everyone has this right. I also believe in the right to own a firearm. However, carring a concealed weapon gives a FALSE sense of security! The idea that you will get the drop on, or outdraw the bad guy, is not the reality of how these events come down.

When you kill someone, good or bad, not only is there a legal aspect to the case but a civil liability also exsits. You can be within the law and still lose your A.. in civil court! So, when you choose to carry a weapon, keep these things in mind!

Since i started carrying, I've never felt so responsible, and willing to walk away from a situation. Makes you realize that you hope you will never have to draw. Also need to realize if you shoot somebody you will go to jail. We've had two close calls here in NH lately. A guy went to jail because he was wearing a side arm and some nutty lady came to the door. She said he threatened her with it. He went to jail and was finally pardoned. Even more recently a guy was threatened with jail time for firing into the ground to stop a burgaler. Even the bad guy stood up for him and said he didn't endanger anybody.

You are welcome.

We recently had a West Point grad killed by law enforcement officers when confronted over his CW. He reached for it when they asked him to drop to the ground. Most think he was just taking it out to drop on the ground. Misunderstanding? Who knows. He's dead!

That's why Im glad I just happen to live in Texas. The most pro gun rights second amendment state there is. Remember old Joe Horn in Pasadena Tx. Shot two burglars robbing his neighbors house. He shot and killed both of them and he wasn't even in his house. He was standing in his front yard. And was aquited. Then Jesse Jackson and quanel X came here and were basically run out of town.

My weapons are an 17 HMR. 300 win mag. And now looking at a .338 Lapua. Im slowly building a collection.
