Roof panel removal
Working on my 1990 Z today, trying to remove roof panel, took out all 4 retaining bolts & the top still doesn't want to come out. I've removed and replace the top on my 94 base coupe tons of times & my FSM shows same procedure. So, is there a trick or something different with the Z ? or is it maybe the top has never been off and therefore just being stubborn ? I have applied a pretty fair amount of pressure to no avail & sure don't want to break anything. Thanks in advance guys !

Re: Roof panel removal
Is your car on a level surface? Id imagine if there was enough flex it might be tough if not impossible to remove. Other than that it should come right off. Good luck!

Re: Roof panel removal
Yes, sitting in my shop (level). I'm betting its never been removed and therefore pretty well married to the seals ?

Re: Roof panel removal
Got it, thanks XFire took a lot more than a shove but, if your around 6' tall like I am you can get your shoulder under the edge of the panel, take the flex out of your knees slowly and get that sucker to come loose. Thanks again guys !

Re: Roof panel removal
Sounds like time to treat the seals before you replace it I do mine about once a year.

Re: Roof panel removal
Steve, your right I'm pretty sure that panel had not been removed since new. After clean them up they look to be in really good shape. In your opinion whats the best treatment for them ?
Thanks, Bob

Re: Roof panel removal
Dielectric silicone grease works best. I treat all the seals once a year. --Bob
