Full power key
One of the several things I had Marc H. do for me three years ago was to make the full power key work better. It worked a couple years but is now not working most of the time, so my question is can I simply by pass the switch? If so, how do I get the switch out to connect the wires together?

Re: Full power key
You have to remove the console/radio trim to which the switch is mounted. Access is from behind. Bridging the wires only works on a 90’. 91 & up requires a modification to the chip.

Re: Full power key
Thank you. Mine is a 90 and I’m going to pull the HVAC switches out to clean and will bipass the switch at that time.

Re: Full power key
Anyone got a photo of the switches insides? What is getting worn?
Sometimes I've just gotta touch the key a bit to get "Full Power" back. Currently im also driving around without the radio trim, as I changed my mind halfway through a 2-Din stereo install. Didn't want to cut that much out of the plastic to enable fitment, so I'll rather fint a mech-less shallow unit. Don't need the cd-player. This also mean I'll have to attempt the switch by-pass, as my switch is still in the trim.

Re: Full power key
I just finished cleaning my HVAC switiches on my 1990 and wired the key by bypassing the switch. Worked perfectly. The switch is easy to access and I broke apart the switch and the factory connectors nicely snapped together. I then taped them up and reassembled. Perfect fix to the “on and off” problem. My car was in Marc’s shop 5 years ago and he serviced the switch then which solved the problem for a couple years but the problem returned.
