Thoughts anyone?

Wife say Z06 waste of money. Boost the GS after warranty expires.

Dont intend to track the car. Just drive it.

The Z51 Stingray with A8 transmission is a fantastic car to drive & travel in.

Great to see that you guys are still thinking of the C7, Jeff. You won't regret it, whether you to with the Stingray, GS or Z06. I went through the same thought process.

Process of elimination for me - if you like the wide-body look, the Stingray is out, unless you go with one of the aftermarket wide-body kits (which look great), but that will get you in the $7-$10K range (depending on how radical you go). That said, I do think the Stingray (w/o wide-body look) has a much nicer stance than the "stock" C6, for what that's worth. Like Jerry said, if you go with the Stingray, I'd go with the Z51 pkg.

If your left with the GS or Z06 (all decisions should be so "difficult" for us), it really comes down to whether you want the extra HP w/o mods or not. In the end, I opted for fewer options (1LT) on the Z06 rather than the 3LT on the GS because I preferred to have performance w/o modding a new car. Having driven both the LT1 and LT4, I did find a noticeable difference, as you would expect. Word of caution - I once said that I would not be tracking my cars - that changed the first time I got the experience, and like most, I "never looked back".

Whichever way you go, you will thoroughly enjoy the C7 even if your driving is restricted to the street and freeways - AMAZING CARS!

Speaking from the standpoint of not having enough money to buy either....GS. I think it will hold it's value better and be every bit as fun. For most of your driving you aren't going to use that extra 214 HP anyway.

My ZR-1 "wide-body"

satisfies my race car desires. As is the norm for race cars they are a blast to drive on the track or even the street for a little cruzin', but no good for trips. That considered, even though I like the ZO6, I ruled it out.

I had a 2013 C6 GS with auto, which was purchased as our "See the USA in a Chevrolet" ride of choice. Loved the car, the wide body & the fat rear tires. Unfortunately, some jerk hated it more & destroyed the car.

When I ordered the 2016 Z51 3LT Stingray, the GS option wasn't available, or I would probably have chosen the GS over the Stingray.

However...... I was at Spring Mtn taking advanced instruction, when over 100 new Stingrays arrived (they already had 5) I was always unhappy with the narrow rear tires on the Stingray... until I talked with the instructors about the Z51 Stingray vs the C6 ZO6 & GS. Nothing but praise and equal or faster track times.

Okay, so now I'm not so concerned about the not-so-wide rear tires and the "look." So I drive one and I'm hooked. The handling on rutted highways is much better than fat-tired cars and the interior is much quieter. Talk about a great way to travel with the wife, carry on a conversation & actually listen to the stereo!

We took a short hop from Oklahoma, to Detroit & on to Maine before turning south to make a few W Virginia roads on the way home. Man do I love this car. The LT1 with Z51 & 5 different driving modes at the turn of a wrist, coupled with the A8 is something special, more commonly known as "having your cake & eating it too!"

To each his/her own to suit your desires.

Fellas, thanks for the input. My C7 experience is limited to a 2014 3LT with the 7spd. Having said that I drove it from southern Ontario to Florida and back. 30 to 35 mpg for the whole trip. My wife is a fan of the GS in the paint scheme similiar to the 96 GS model.
At this point i have every intent to keep my 90 ZR-1 and am leaning towards the GS. I get to have them both this way

My experience with buying factory cars is to buy the Z06 or ZR1 models. I made the "mistake" of buying a 2005 Z51 first and then within 2 years traded for a 2007 Z06 for the kicka$$ 427. If you have the money get the Z. Granted the GS gets the same bodywork and trim minus the blower basically. But usually it's an entire package upgrade. Another consideration is that a slightly used C7Z is the same price, even a little lower than a new GS. Now the cooling issue comes into play. Word on the street is that the 2017 Z is getting revised cooling to cope with customer complaints. And we have the Zora possibly coming out in a few years too...So many choices lol.
