Default Lower Seat Position

Does anyone know of a remedy to create a lower seat position in the C4? I have a '91 Corvette ZR-1 that I recently had the seats re-upholstered. The new foam/padding has caused me to lose what little headroom I had in the car.

I am looking for a solution to lower the seats in my car without compromising the padding or comfort of the seats.

Is there a way to remove the power seat mechanisms and possibly have the seats permanently mounted in the car? At 6'6" they need to be all the way back and as low as possible. I'm not concerned with resale of the car at this point or anyone else's comfort/ability to drive the car.

I have already removed the support straps under the cushions, but that is not enough. I'm looking for other solutions.

Thanks,

Joe

Thanks but that doesn't fit the theme of this project.

Joe,

I think what can be done is to fabricate 2 (left and right) pieces, channel shaped, brackets that can be bolted to the floor in same location as the track. Then, seats can be bolted to the top of the track. Track total thickness when in the lowest seat position, based on my memory, is about 3-4 inches. Channel shaped bracket can 1-2 inches.
I'll hand sketch what can be done and email to you. You can talk to Dempsey - evolution motor sport, and have him fabricate the piece, paint and ship to you.
What is your Z model year?

My car is a 1991. I like your solution, but I thought for sure someone else had already been down this road.

Locobob had taken a manual seat track and made it lower as well, that could work for you

Joe, I assume you run with the Lexan roof. Its a little thinner than the solid top.

Absolutely! It gives me just a little more headroom.

That was going to be my suggestion.
BTW Joe, speaking of extra room, I’m trying to get a group buy together for the Apsis D shape wheel. I know that would afford you some extra knee room and easier egress. Interested?
Full disclosure, I don’t know that Apsis would be interested but worth a try.
