Default Tuners - Anyone have a stock 90MY bin file?

My friend is going to try to help me to tune my car to pass emissions. Does anyone have a bin file for a stock memcal chip? I have two, but both are modified and trying to see where baseline is versus where these two chips are.

I don't know all this technical stuff yet and hope to learn, but right now I have someone offering to help so I'm going to see if he can.

Thanks,

Craig

Craig:

I have AYBK1616, I think it's the latest version for the '90, but I'm not quite sure how to post it here.

Try this, it's a link to my FTP site:
ftp://www.mscomponents.com/ZR1%20Bin%20File/

Tom,

You are truly awesome. No problem accessing it via FTP and greatly appreciated. I'll provide to my friend and see how he can utilize it to help me get through my emission issue here in Japan.

Thanks so much.

Craig

Craig,

Which bin editor will you be using? And do you have correct definition file?

Before you get too far into a complex tuning session, let me ask...are your cars highly modified?

With aftermarket calibrations, typically, the tuner usually doesn't go into the closed loop parts of the cal and change things. Most emissions tests (I say "most" because I'm not familiar with how exhaust emissions are tested in Japan) only sample the exhaust at light load when the engine is in closed loop. If the fuel trim values are close to zero, failure to pass emissions might not be a calibration issue.

The OP implies there has been some difficulty in getting the car to pass.

What is causing it to flunk? High HC? High NOx....what?

He will be using Moats Ostrich and Tuner RT. That is all I know right now. Thanks.

Hib,

Not sure about highly modified but basically what would consist of 500HP package with the addition of SGC Stage 1 cams. I won't go into all the details but Japan emissions is unlike anything in the US when importing; its a 11 mode testing hot and cold. I have the slightest chance in hell but trying anyway. Failed HC and CO big time with stock exhaust/cats/air pump. I posted a whole separate deal about it a few months ago. Thanks!

In agreement w Hib. Very likely your tuner won't have access to the params he would need to get to if he doesn't have a complete calibration mask that Townsley or Pepmeir would have. Most "tuners" rarely deal with
part throttle aspects of the tune. I believe Corey does do part throttle work but it is time consuming and expensive(just the gas!). Ask me how I know.

Thanks. I have no idea and someone is offering to help. Either that or just give up so worth a shot as nothing ventured, nothing gained. At least I'll learn something in the process.

I think you are taking it the wrong way. It's meant to be of help not discouragement. Just trying to point out what it may take and I doubt that someone in Japan would have more experience w the LT-5 than those stateside.
