Where is the definitive troubleshooting guide to no start condition?
Have had the old girl for for 10k miles, and 3 1/2 trouble free years but she has left me no start twice in the last month. Had to push start both times. Jumping had no affect. Battery checks good, sounds like a metallic clunk/knock at the starter..but just need to trouble shoot it. Where is the best step by step?

Re: Where is the definitive troubleshooting guide to no start condition?
Guess I just have a starter issue.
http://zr1specialist.com/HAT%20Web/a...%20Probems.pdf "The Starter Solenoid Clicks But the Engine Does Not Crank The sound of the starter solenoid click is muffled because the starter is located inside the valley of the engine. If the solenoid clicks but the engine does not crank, the solenoid is activating but there is one of two faults in the starter. The solenoid motor contacts may not be connecting the starter motor to the battery. Or, the starter brushes may not be contacting the starter armature because they are worn. The starter must be replaced if one of these conditions exists. In this starter failure mode, the car will push start. Use first gear with an OE 3.45 rear axle gear ratio. Use second gear with a 4.10 rear axle ratio. If the car can’t be pushed, there is a small chance that starter may be vibrated to life by tapping the starter with a pipe while the solenoid is activated."

Like Marc describes........Most likely the Starter Solenoid Points.....you can easily polish them up a bit after removing the starter.
See Starter Relay, Wiring Harness, Battery, and Plugs Tricks

Jim, before diving in to replace the starter, I'd suggest finding the "purple wire" and giving it 12v (with the car out of gear). That will tell you for sure if the problem is at the starter (or wiring into/inside) the plenum.
