Default 0 to 60 test

I found myself on a empty country road today and i decided to test my 0 to 60 time using the Torque phone app, now i am not saying it 100% accurate but i have tried it on all my other cars and it has always seemed very close and at least not giving you optimistic numbers, for instance i haven't been able to closer than about half a second slower than the advertised 0-60 on my volvo T5 and that's a automatic.

Anyway i brought the rpm up to about 3500 dumped the clutch got a litttle wheel spin and shifted somewhere after 7000rpm and did the same for second gear. i Looked down at the phone and it said 3.98 seconds not bad for a 30 year old car, i think i must have hit 60 in first gear.
The only mods i have on the car are gutted cats, maximizer exhaust, deleted secondaries and a Haibeck chip.

Not bad at all! Seeing how these were tested back in the day by most car magazines, and it was around 4.5 seconds 0-60. Just shows how much potential was left in the LT5....

Yes absolutely huge potential, A free flowing exhaust and modern tires make a big difference. I found this comment by Brad Reeder (one of the Lotus Engineers) very interesting.

"In the final form the engine made 400 BHP fully dressed at about 6000rpm, but then came a late change to the exhaust system.
In field tests we (and GM) noted a droning in the cabin at 55mph in 6th gear. This we diagnosed as the exhaust pulses at 1300 rpm setting off a resonance in the rear bodywork. The tail pipes ended short just under the rear panel.
In the field we (with no qualifications in exhaust system design) welded a 1” long bit of tube to each of the 4 tailpipes bringing the outlet clear of the panel and eliminating the drone. Effect on performance …..nil. The exhaust system team solution was to neck the exhaust tubing as it exits the under floor muffler. Effect on performance…….25 BHP down.
So it was that the ZR1 in stock trim had 375 not 400 BHP. I’ll let the reader decide as to which was the better solution."

So how about we start working on the 15 year old thread of dyno sheets for our cars from the NCM? They bound to need the money? GM went bankrupt back, so really nothing to loose. Who has the current connections to the NCM and GM ?

I found my time slips from 2007 . My best time was 1/4 mile 12.922 @ 113.16 . My time, when there are two cars, I am listed under the "white" car. This was a Registry event I put on back in the day...all ZR-1 event.
