Default Performed a test with the tech1...

Finally after a few years, got my tech 1 out and hooked it up to the 94. There is a learning curve for sure. So it will take some time to understand all of the capabilities that can be performed.

I have the Master Cartridge which fortunately was updated by a PO. It covers the ECM from '81 through '96. So we are covered. I also have the correct adapter needed to attach to the OBD 1 ALDL in our vehicles.

Everything started just fine, ran a cold test first, then started the engine and ran a test as the engine was warming up. Total time for the test was 18 minutes, and that was because I was writing down the info as it appeared. Went out for a ride after, but did not have the tech 1 operating without a passenger to record the parameters while in motion.

It will ask you for the 8th digit of your VIN#, which is "J" and will then ask you if a 94 Corvette. Press "YES" and you are in.....

Engine coolant reading is off by 2 degrees from the IP with the tech 1 giving a higher reading by that amount.

No problem.....as mentioned, don't fully understand all of the data, but thought it may be interesting to post. I can do a snapshot I think of before, during, and after if I have an engine problem, or just check out some systems. Will have to experiment more as time goes on. I also think there is a way to check the fuel injectors along with some additional parameters. Have to check the SM to see if there is any additional info. The tech 1 manual was printed early and I don't think there were any updated versions of the manual. Been searching, but I can't find any.
I also need to have a passenger ride with me to operate and write down the info, until I figure out how to transfer the data to a printer. It will be interesting to see the data with the vehicle in motion.....
May have to recruit my wife for the job!!!

The snapshot is useful. it can record a few seconds of data stream while you are running the car in a particular way. it records a little before and a little after you hit the stop button so you can review what was happening before the even you are interested in.

Also, if you get a freeware type of terminal emulator for you laptop or pc, you can set it up as a universal vt-100 style serial data stream and connect to the 9-pin connector on the side of the tech1. Then it will show you all the parameters at the same time on the laptop monitor without having to arrow-thru the entire screen set.
