Re: Totaled/Parted ZR-1's
I have been trying to record every "totaled" ZR-1. Surprisingly, I have met various kinds of resistance. A couple of people parting out Z's refused to divulge the VIN's of the cars they were selling parts from. I also know of several cars that were totaled for insurance purposes that have been restored, so it gets confusing.
If you know of any Z's (with a VIN) I will be glad to add them to my list. Currently, I do not plan to publish the list. Jim

You can add the burned up 90, #1805 to the list from the other thread...

Re: Totaled/Parted ZR-1's
I think you are right. At lease I couldn't find it. Why is it not there? That was a very useful feature for us, especially when looking at buying ZR-1s. And why, Jim, do you say you are keping a list and don't want to publish it? Inquiring minds want to know --Bob

Re: Totaled/Parted ZR-1's
As I said above, I have gotten comments and resistance from some people about posting a list of cars that have been totaled, and about trying to gather VIN's of cars that are being parted out.
I made a personal decision to not publish the data I have gathered. I would be glad to bring the matter to the Board of Directors for a Registry decision. My personal hesitation is based on the problem that I have no way to verify the authenticity of the data I have. It would be a big problem if I posted a VIN as totaled when in fact it was not. The owner of that car would be very upset if he tried to sell the car and my list made the car hard to sell due to the questions it would raise. I know of several ZR-1's that were were wrecked and "totaled" for the purpose of settling the insurance claim. Then the car was purchased for the salvage price and restored. Jim |

Re: Totaled/Parted ZR-1's
Just playing devils advocate here but if I was looking at buying a ZR-1 that was not being presented as a salvaged rebuild your list could prevent me from doing that. I guess in that case it would have a salvaged title right?

Re: Totaled/Parted ZR-1's
Up the road I'm not too sure a salvage title is going to be the big deal that we are thinking they are today. Compared to a low mile NCRS garage mobile a salvage title car may present a problem. I know of more than one salvage title ZR1's that are knock out DD beautiful cars.
Myself , I like to drive them and use them well. Just my 2 cents.
