INFL REST
What a PITA. My INFL REST light is on again along with seat belt light. Had this repaired 3 yrs ago. I had a mechanic at a dealer here in Houston who had went thru the ZR1 school back in 90. Now he's gone. I, however, am not a mechanic at all. Does anyone have any suggestions? Too small of a problem to take to Coreys I think.
Thanks Mike

Code 16 Drivers Side Sensor and Code 26 Passenger Side Sensor. Then.......find someone Close with a couple tools and a small wire brush wheel on a 1/4 inch drill. Wire brush used to clean the contact surfaces and re-install the Drivers Side or Passenger Side Sensor. Upgraded 1990 INFL REST Code Clearing TIPS Ignition Key Codes and Clearing 1990 INFL REST Codes Could also be the yellow connector under Left and Right Floor Panel. INFL REST Connectors Inside Car TIPS If you have the ALDL Code Reader it makes it sooooooo easy to Clear Codes

Re: INFL REST
Mike,
I have some time off next week, we can do the oil and then see what we can do with that sensor. I'll drop you note on Monday. I do have Cliff's code reader so that should help. |

Re: INFL REST
If you're not concerned with the SIR actually working you could just use a resistor bypassing the SIR and it will put out both the INFL REST and the FASTEN BELT if the actual fault is an SIR issue. There's always been much debate as to how well the older SIR functions when called for and how much damage they do when they do inflate to the driver. Best to do the faults first and based upon the issues decide.

Re: INFL REST
If it is code 42 and the car is a 90, it could prove significantly harder.
Code 42 is a fault in the warning lamp circuit, possibly the bulb itself, any of the connections, pinched wire, OR......most likely.... The DERM! If that is the case the previous poster offers very good advice! Wear your belt religiously, but maybe time to "bag" the bag. Marty |

INFL REST
I would re-install both right and left sensors no matter the codes 16 or 26. The right sensor a bit more difficult but remove windshield washer container and using 1/4 inch sockets/swivels you can get the two sensor bolts removed. remember to spray paint when done to keep moisture out of contact surfaces
