Default Activities Make New England GP "For the Fans"

ACTIVITIES MAKE NEW ENGLAND GRAND PRIX ‘FOR THE FANS'

Lime Rock Park and the ALMS have a weekend full of fan activities leading up to Monday's New England Grand Prix.
Braselton, Ga. - The Fourth of July weekend at Lime Rock Park doesn't mean just hot dogs, hamburgers and everything else that goes along with Independence Day. It also means plenty of activities associated with the New England Grand Prix, Round 4 of the 2005 American Le Mans Series, to further support the ALMS of being "For the Fans."

As with all ALMS events, each ticket puts fans closer to the drivers, cars and teams of the ALMS throughout the weekend, a feature that is unprecedented in motorsports. Spectators also are invited to the Lime Rock front straight from about 2:15 to 2:45 p.m. to watch teams line up their cars before the start of the two-hour, 45-minute race. While on the grid during the prerace ceremonies, fans can talk to their favorite drivers and team personnel, as well as grab some autographs, too.

That's not the only place where autographs can be had. From noon to 1 p.m. Monday, all ALMS drivers will be signing autographs in front of their team transporters. From posters and books to shirts and hats, drivers are happy to sign them all. The famed Pirelli Girls also will hold an autograph session from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Monday at the ALMS merchandise tent.

Another popular ALMS fan feature are team tech talks. A typical tech talk involves a "tour" of a team's paddock area as well as a question-and-answer session with team officials and drivers, along with the opportunity for more autographs. There are four tech talks scheduled for Lime Rock: from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Saturday at the Chevy presents Corvette Corral, which also will feature a car show and celebrity judging, and another 11 a.m. talk at the Maserati transporter; 5 p.m. Saturday at the Dyson Racing transporter; and at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, again at the Chevy presents Corvette Corral. It also will feature a Corvette car show.

At the same time as Sunday's Corvette tech talk, the Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing team will hold a track walk during Lime Rock's all-day Open House.

Lime Rock also marks the third visit by Salvation Army "Grid Kids" to an ALMS race. Starting at 9 a.m. Monday, youngsters from the Lime Rock area will receive VIP passes and IMSA hospitality areas as they tour the paddock and spend time with the Petersen/White Lightning team and settle in to watch the day's events.

The New England Grand Prix, Round 4 of the ALMS, is set for 3 p.m. July 4 at Lime Rock Park. SPEED Channel will provide live coverage, along with American Le Mans Series Radio at www.americanlemans.com.
