Rear hatch release - won't
Hi everyone. My rear hatch won't release when the switches are actuated. The electric popper will try to release the glass once, mayyyyybe twice, then it gives up until it has rested and the car has restarted at least once. I was able to open the hatch for a time by pressing down on the glass while actuating a release switch but that method no longer works.
I'd like to adjust or repair the mechanism or at least attach a release cable but until I can get the hatch open there is no access to the surround trim, which I'm pretty sure has to be removed to pull down the carpet and access the popper. Any suggestions? |

Re: Rear hatch release - won't
there is a manual release cable ... it's probably hidden under the vertical carpeting ... see your owner's manual.

"gives up until it has rested" sounds like your release solenoid is on its way out, the switch is worn or the battery is buggered. Yes, it could be just an adjustment but the 'giving up till its rested' makes me think otherwise.

Topic close out: picked up a used solenoid off eBay from a well-known Corvette recycler. Installed it tonight, problem solved. Appreciate the advice and suggestions.

Good info. A replacement solenoid may be a valuable "shop stock" item!

Re: Rear hatch release - won't
Sometimes installing rubber vacuum nipple over the striker rod gives enough height for the solenoid to work.
