I really want a C8
But can't bring myself to sell my Z and having both is not an option. So I guess it's going to be mine for life,or at least until someone else really wants it more than I do. The C8 would be a new Z06,not a bad choice for a replacement. |

Re: I really want a C8
I?m totally w u. If its a C8, it needs to be the Z06. Been waiting for a mid engine Vette for over 50 yrs. They finally come out w one and make it pretty much unaffordable. I wouldn?t get the Stingray unless they put a DOHC in it, even a smaller displacement one. Would be very difficult to go w a pushrod after driving the LT5 all these years.

Re: I really want a C8
What? You wouldn't want the coming ZR1 with 1,064 HP? Might as well go for broke (because you will be after the purchase). While I find the C8 interesting, I must say that I prefer my C7 Z06 to the C8. I am not a fan of the wall of buttons, although many are fine with it. Also no grab handles for my wife like the C7, she pointed out. With the front engine coupe setup, it is a great touring car with plenty of room for stuff and easy access to it--we've done three 2,500+ mile trips in it. Also quite fast with a GM claimed 0-60 of 2.95 and an independently verified quarter mile of 10.9/133 noted in WIkipedia. Plenty for this old former boy-racer. I owned C4 ZR-1s off and on for about 20 years, as well as many other sports, classic and performance cars, almost all bought used with stick shifts. In my (earlier) old age in 2016, I decided that I was old enough to deserve a new car with an automatic and a warranty so I sold the C4 ZR-1 and ordered the C7 Z06. Loved the ZR-1s and the mechanical marvels their engines are. Would love to have both a C4 and C7 but I am limited by a two car garage with a lift and a wife. But happy now with the C7 Z06 with no plan to get a C8. They may be better cars on the track, and some models a little bit quicker, but my needs have changed. So after 8 years and 32k miles, I am happy for now. So while you like the C8, you might consider the C7 Z06 as an alternative if you need to scratch that itch, and you can do so at a considerably lower cost. Just a thought.--Bob

Re: I really want a C8
First post here in a long time for me. I had a 1990 ZR1 for a long time, sold it in 2018 to try a Porsche 911 (997.2) for a while. I regretted selling the ZR1 immediately. I bought a 2023 Z51 HTC last year and it's a great car, I know the Z06 is cooler, but really hard to justify the cost for what you get. I drive the C8 to work nearly every day, and it's a great all around car.
Fast forward to now, I sold the 911 a few weeks ago and immediately started shopping ZR1s again. I found this 1992 only an hour away and picked it up yesterday. It is a 40k mile car, all stock other than Haibeck installed 4.09 and Power Effects exhaust. Plus A-molds, original wheels and exhaust are like new and included. Looking forward to lots if fun with it! The C4 ZR1 is hard to beat! |

You only live once. Go for it! Worst case scenario you will regret selling your car. If you test drive one (if you already haven't) it may seal the deal.

Bob, The C8 Z has more hp than the C7Z and is naturally aspirated as u know. No way I?ll ever see a C8 ZR1 unless I win the lottery. However, at the end of the day, what?s the point of HP if u don?t get it to the ground.

Re: I really want a C8
Faced the same dilemma. Kept the ZR-1 and got the C8 anyway.

Image1731896568.816001.jpg Two different cars, great acceleration from the c8 but wish it had the up top power of my ZL1. I ported the intake and throttle body on my C8, also run 25-30% E85, it can adapt to running some E85 on the stock tune(10-15 rwhp). Not many mods you can do on the Global B platform. I miss my C7, it had great brakes, and some mild mods had it in the 530hp range. Keep both!

Re: I really want a C8
I've driven two C8 Z51 Coupes at short track events. I enjoyed that experience immensely, however, nothing puts a smile on my face like my two C4s. I'm way too attached to the C4 in general to be without them. C8s, and especially the Z06, are awesome, but for me would have to be in addition to... and I literally just figured out how to fit four cars in my three car garage (finally got a lift). So no C8 anytime soon, I'm afraid!
