Default Spring guidance for a 1990 ZR1; FE1 = FHA? From England, GB

Hi. Firstly - i'm in England, Great Britain, just to set the tone. So my parts and shipping cost in general is another level compared to everyone in the USA.

I am desperately seeking a front spring (mine is an FHA) to replace my cracked one. No one on ebay.com will ship to the UK for some reason, so used ones seem sadly out of the picture.

Zip corvette seem to be the only place that has a new one. But they only stock two types.

The "base spring rate FE-1"
https://www.zip-corvette.com/84-96-f...ring-rate.html

Or the "sprint spring rate Z51"
https://www.zip-corvette.com/84-96-f...ring-rate.html

I'm fairly sure neither of these are right to replace my FHA. I have reviewed the great thread on here with the list of spring codes.

Would appreciate your advice/assistance on this and whether the new FE1 option is actually the same as an FHA. Thanks!

Charlie

My data shows the FHA spring was not used on a ZR1, but never say "Never" as according to Marc Haibeck, a lot of ZRs had FHAs

The FHA spring was 93.1 NM/mm which converts to 525 lb/in.

Here in the States, there are other sources for used Corvette parts than eBay and some of those vendors might ship internationally. Use keywords "used Corvette parts", "Corvette salvage", "Corvette dismantlers"

"J&D Corvettes" in California and "Corvette Recycling" in Utah are places to start.

Neither of those Zip Products springs will work as the base spring is likely a 22173028 which is 60 N/mm and the "sport" spring (out of stock) is likely an FHB at 115.5 N/mm.

If you can't find an FHA used the FSK may work

Hi Charlie, I might have a FHA front spring in my shop...and shipping from Germany to GB shouldn`t be a problem. Can check it out in the evening and get back to you later.

Thanks Hib. And I would also like to thank you for all the incredible reference material you have compiled for ZR1 owners like me. Your information on many ZR1 topics has been truly invaluable.
