After our hike, we drove west toward the Bryce Canyon area of Utah. I chose CO-12, an American Scenic ByWay to cross Boulder Mountain:

After crossing Boulder Mountain we stopped in the town of Escalante and rented an ATV to explore a small part of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument:

Our next stop in the Bryce Canyon Lodge and then the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and then Zion National Park.


It may be a few days before I get WiFi or cellular connection.

We have left Bryce Canyon National Park and are headed for the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Pics to follow when we get WIFI again.

We are at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and have weak cell phone connection so I will be trying to post some pictures using a cellular hotspot.

On Day 12 we drove to Bryce Canyon National Park:




Neither Lyndi or I have been to Bryce Canyon before and we were amazed by the vistas and rock formations:




Our first hike took us down into the canyon, among the rock formations:



This is my favorite formation. It is called Thor's Hammer and can be seen from many parts of the canyon. I used it as a navigational aid during our hikes:







The early morning light reflecting on these spires made them appear translucent:
