Re: BJ AUCTION ON SPEED
Why was 89X2 copping an attitude on the CF Forum in regards to the ZR-1 thread? I remember one time, I said something about a Callaway and I got my head cut off. Maybe it's not his normal personality but negative tone is seen throughout the entire thread.
Thats why Value and $ threads are dumb. We all talk about it and sure we want our cars to go up in value, we are all proud ZR-1 owners. However, I don't think most of us give a **** when it comes down to it. We bought the cars because we love them. If ZR-1s for some odd reason (won't happen) never had their day in 10-30 years, I'd be totally fine with that. I bought it for me -best Corvette I've ever owned. They are totally different cars, I chose a ZR-1 because that is what I wanted. Last edited by xlr8nflorida; 01-16-2009 at 02:34 PM. |

Re: BJ AUCTION ON SPEED
Right you are! When I read that Van Dorn said, "....including the
Snake Skinner ($160K!!) and others. The SS car was just a 430hp car that was lightened extensively. It was the pattern for our Street Skinner package with plenty more hp.", I told my wife she should run right out and start spending the big bucks to help the economy. My BEAST2 with Jim's Street Skinner package has 490 hp. ??? $160K...Now all I need to do is get BJ to auction BEAST2 for some of those big bucks...

Re: BJ AUCTION ON SPEED
To be honest I get tired of seeing the constant teardown of the Z and the all too soon link posted to the Callaway site, big deal. Yeah neat car but its a TPI thats even more cumbersome to work on than an LT5.
Good truck motor though. Heres one with an aero kit Callaway speedster Z, different story.

I think this is the second time I've seen him suggest that the Callaway "won" the article he put together. It was a blast to drive all those cars and meet the owners, and such. However, to me I think really it's a disservice to the folks involved. I think both cars are cool but was careful to be a bit gracious about the Callaway in my comments. I suspect everyone was, they are all cool cars, and no one wants to be some *** that says "yeah, my car is the best"... Well, no one but Pete. That's just his personality though, he seems like a very nice guy. I sort of doubt Ron would trade in his LSV for a Callaway, and the way Lance talks about his yellow '95, I doubt he would either. Though he also has at least a Speedster if not other B2Ks. I certainly don't mean to suggest he'd declare a Z a "winner" over the B2K, but he talks like that car really is special to him. He beats the hell out of it and it just keeps taking it. The "better performance" thing I find a little tired. Some moldy old magazines have very close results, sometimes favoring the Z, sometimes not. But mags are hardly the best drivers, not to mention Callaway often provided Mike Zoner to drive, GM would not generally provide a driver. Anyway, if they are so much faster, they should be out there proving it on the pavement, not on forums. Who's ever seen a B2K run down the 1/4 mile? I have, but consider myself lucky to have seen it. How many ran at BG last year? Years past? How many will run this year? Anyway, I think they are both cool cars. I think personally I'd take a Z over the B2K, and did. I'd expect someone else might not. I feel pretty comfortable in driving my car often, and beating on it at will. I do not believe I would feel that way had I gotten a B2K. Mostly it's a shame that they can't both be discussed without it getting insulting.

Michael, I think a lot of the Callaway guys were still bitter about not getting their own section at CF. They tried to merge them in with us after the ZR-1 section was created. People got upset on both sides. SO they went to the CAC and created their own group. Also the C5 Z06 guys got their panties in a wad over them not having a specific section and the ZR-1 guys did. It was deemed that our cars were more different than a regular C4 and they weren't. Eventually they gave in and got their own section. |

Re: BJ AUCTION ON SPEED
Its called a passion for your car, certainly we do not suffer from the same problem....its not like we isolated ourselves from other vette sites and only talk about what is undoubted the greatest sports car ever made.....uhhhh, oh wait we are doing that.
I just think he gets fired up......would it be fun without the conflict....bears vs packers, hogan vs Iron sheik, butter vs Parkay......its all about the competiton that makes it fun and brings us together. Bring it! LGAFF 92 ZR1 #234 |
