Headers are going to make the biggest difference. The amazing thing is you won't see full potential of porting or headers until you do them both.

Thanks Jeff, do you think I might gain more than the typical 20 hp since the porting is already done? I know way back when you went from ~350 to ~390 Also were you still running the stock flywheel then?

Actually went from 339 to 391 (58mm TB) with just porting and headers. I know 400 was there with tuning. Was still running the stock flywheel.

Combined they are worth roughly 50 RWHP. Seperately the porting alone may give you 15-20 and then the headers make up the rest and vice versa.

I agree with jeff 100% if you got the porting done . YOUHAVE TO DO HEADERS . IF you do that ., all we will see is that smiley face. your car will go nuts with headers. otherwise its like taking a shower with a raincoat on. you think it sounds nice up high wait till you do headers she goes right to the rev limiter without laying over . downside is you might not ever want to get out of the car again. jmho

My '90 is going down to Marc's in April for headers. The top end has been P&P already. I have Power Effect exhaust. Is there any advantage (HP) to taking out the resenator and going with piping? Will the car be too loud?? (I guess that is one's preference). I also have 409 gears. According to the other posts that this makes 1st gear useless. I don't race my car except for a little street racing. Also, will a Fidanza flywheel make much difference other than more noise??

the light weight flywheel lets her rev alot quicker . i replaced my flowmaster resonator withan ultra flow x pipe muff. got the 3 in .I like it sneeky fast . makes it more fun and the boys in blue don't look at you so much. i had one exhaust without the res with an x pipe instead and I had to by excedrin before I want anywhere . but thats just me . once you get used to feathering the gas first gear is ok but its an aquired feel. but if ya stomp on her in first gear tires seem to just melt away .

OK I'm getting scared now...I just bought a B&B with the X pipe and they refused to throw in ANY aspirin for free! It's due at the end of the month. I actually got a pretty good deal. $975.00 Drop shipped brand new to my house with the X pipe. This is the first MOD my car has seen since 91'...but not the last! There is another guy on the Corvette Forum selling a flowmaster for a ZR1 used but the whole system for like $200 or something if anybody was interested.

"i want to sell a hardly used flowmaster cat back system complete for a 91 zr1
lloyd 973-256-1031 asking 175.00"

I called him a week ago and he still had it for sale but I went with the B&B.

Lloyd is out in NJ and won't ship the Flowmaster setup. It's a great deal for any of you East Coasters.

Jon, is the Ultra Flow X-pipe + muffler even quieter than the original Flowmaster setup?
