No it allows you to bypass the primary fuel pump when it fails. All Z's have 2 fuel pumps (a primary and a secondary). This is a plug in an go jumper if that happens which allows you to limp home on the secondary pump. If you don't have one its a tow home situation. Most folks like me keep one of these in the car just incase. Your normal indication of failure is the car will start and then 30 seconds or so later just die. GC
