So, can I run a C6 caliper with a 17" wheel. If so, what size rotor am I limited to running???
Brett,
I'm currently running 10"x18", 58mm offset Fikse Profil 10s on the front.
Before I was running the same 13" C6 brake setup with factory 17" A-molds which were at the limit clearence wise for those particular wheels.

What is the rotor size with this setup??
Brett,

The C5 rotors are slightly smaller @ 12.8" rather than the J55 rotors @ 13". They are thicker however.

So what are the differences between the C5 and C6 base calipers?

None. Identical. Z51 is different.

C6 Z51 brake uses a 13.5" rotor. However, won't work on 17" wheels.

Phil, Dom, thanks for the rotor sizes. I know it's a lot of questions. I feel like I should already know the answers but I keep telling myslef, "You have never had a ZR1 to drive daily".

I just want to make sure that I mod the car with something that I'll be happy with. I don't want to do it twice. I don't mind dropping $$$$, but I want to spend $$$ it wisley.

Brett,

The C5 brakes are very good. They are not incrementally better than the J55s in comparison to having replaced 12" rotors w the C5s. However, if you are interested in using 17" wheels, the C5s are a value for the money.
Lots of rotors and pads to choose from also. Or get the C6 version which has a more stylized script on the caliper.

Mounting interface is the same for both C5 Z06 and C6 base calipers.
C6 caliper hats are of beefier construction, have larger raised "CORVETTE" lettering, and have a cleaner overall look in my opinion.

If you find a worthwhile set of C6Z calipers, let me know.
