In Heart of the Beast is says that the vacuum pump was added to supplement the engines vacuum when the engine was run at high rpms for extended periods of time.

Well #074's ECM seems to have cured the dash problem:

Now should I try to start it???

In the future you may need a 88-89 ecm if you want to run it past the 154 deg warmup peroid, either that or hard wire (or make sure it is controlled by the oil pressure) in the primary fuel pump. In a 90 and later once the motor gets warm it shuts off the secondary pump and the ecm controls the primary pump shuting it off when it sees no rpm. Again the tach signal and dis out lines are different between the 88-89 and 90s so if that was a 90+ in the car and it was wired as an 89 it may have fried the ecm.

NO! Pull all the plug wires and lay them on the plenum with pulgs in them. Crank the car and watch the spark rythem and see if it matches the #074, you could also put a scope on the dis output. I know its more work but I would pull the plenum and pull the injector rails up so you can watch the injectors, turn the pumps on and see if you have injectors that are acting right. You can make a pigtale to ground each injector or you can crank and watch the spray pattern. I would remove the spark plugs first.

See 16 for waveform.

Tyler, I ran a probe camera under the plenum and found a sticker on the DIS. It is a Motorola Enginnering unit, so I would guess it's not a 90+:

While checking the wiring for the gauges I see that someone has wired the fuel pump differently. The fuel pump does turn on and presurize the rails. I found that out after I swapped the sending unit. I am tempted to turn it over, but will wait a little while longer...
