Secondchance,
Thanks, I was offered a good job there and may consider it depending on what comes up in the next few months. As Carter said, it is very cold and I know it was a cold snap for a few days and not normal...........but, WOW it has been a long time since I felt temps in the 20s not counting the wind chill. You folks have a great group over there and it might be worth it for that alone. ![]() Carter, Thanks again; you're my hero! |

Andrew,
I've got one that I made out of a balancer bolt just like Carter did. I'd be willing to loan it to you. PM me if you're interested. Jep |

PLEASE HELP
Does anyone have one of these homemade damper install tools that they would be willing to lend a fellow ZR-1 owner in despite need? My car was in storage for the last three years as I moved to Texas without it. Had the car shipped to me this week and the car has a coolant leak from the water pump (got one on the way), and the balancer dampening material was hanging out of the balancer so I placed one on order. Sounds like changing this Damper in the car is going to be a real nightmare, especially without a way to put the new one back on. |

Harmonic Balancer Installation. The Harmonic balancer is initially installed using a standard harmonic balancer bolt welded to a longer threaded shaft (the Harmonic Balancer bolt alone is not long enough to initially set the Harmonic Balancer). Use Red Loctite (262) and torque the Harmonic Balancer bolt to 148 ft-lbs (block of wood jammed into the crankshaft area with oil pan removed). Be carefull the timing chains are not locked on the timing chain idler sprocket preventing the crankshaft from turning. ![]() |
