Good luck. Smoke 'em if you've got 'em!

I wish I was there. Let us know how you do.

Bad luck at the track today.
Twisted off the right rear spindle at the splines on the very first launch.
I was the first guy out after they preped the starting area. Did a short burn out, staged and came out at around 3500 rpm. It launched like a rocket then popped the spindle within the first 30 ft. or so.
As luck would have it I was the only Z that showed up at the track today. So I called Dave J. on the cell and he got a hold of Jeff G. They both dropped what they were doing and drove all the way out to the track with Jeff's Chevy duallie and trailer to get me and the car back home 50 miles to Virginia.
I can't thank these two fine gentlemen enough for what they did for me today.
Anybody know where I can find a tougher set of rear spindles?

Sorry to hear about the broken spindle. It sounds like you have built a ZR-1 with plenty of torque and plenty of grip. Both are good things. I am sure you will get it back in action soon.

Geez man, sorry to hear that! And I'm sorry the event ended up being a bust... I actually figured I was much more likely to have to work Saturday and thought the rain might be a blessing in disguise, what can you do...

Hey, I was thinking about this. So if you blew up at 30', you didn't even get a 60' time to see how the drag tires worked out? That sucks, at least you would have had some cool number to associate with blowing the spindle.

I'm affraid picking up the time slip was not on my mind at the time as I was being towed back to the pits by the track's ATV tow tractor.
I'm sure all the straight axle boys were having a good chuckle.

any wheel hop? as cold as it was I'm very surprised they hooked that hard.

try around 21 psi, it's a bit more "forgiving"
