Day 6 - On Sunday we drove from Minot to Harve, Montana. Our route continued on US 2, straight across North Dakota and Montana:
![]() Along the way we came across some fine examples of Americana. This horse-drawn stage coach and wagon were part of an old-west parade yesterday: ![]() In the parking lot of a gas station, we found a Tea Pot Coffee Stand: ![]() We arrived in Harve in time to drive along the Milk River and see the Bad Lands: ![]() Jim |

Awesome photos! Appreciate your taking the time to post up so we can all live your adventures vicariously. Looks like a blast. Rode through Badlands on my 2007 BMW R1200R back in 2013, would love to do it again.
Damn, now I have to add cross-country trip in the Z to my bucket list!

Hi Jm and Lyndi--So far it looks like a great trip! When you get to Victoria I hope you plan to stay at the Empress Hotel--a beautiful, classic old hotel that I believe still serves traditional English afternoon tea at 4 PM. For many years now it has been a Fairmont. And there is a grand building across the street that houses the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia built in 1898. Since 2007 it has been fully illuminated at night with 3500 energy efficient light bulbs (an impressive sight) but when I was there in the '70s locals pointed out that the exterior lighting originated from the dawn of commercial electricity use and many light bulbs still operating then were original Thomas Edison bulbs. And don't miss Butchart Gardens while there.
Dede and I are also headed out on a road trip next week, but much more modest than yours--only a week long. I don't think she could stand being in the car any longer. Off to a Corvette gathering in Niagara On The Lake, Ontario, then on to visit relatives in New York state (while the rest of the group goes to the races north of Toronto), then home via Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater home and the Auburn Cord Duesenberg museum. Enjoy your trip--I am envious.--Bob

Wow! Nice cars!
The red/yellow one looks to be a mid 30s Duesenberg, based on the body style and shape of the yellow "swoosh" on the side, and the emblem on the wheel centers (comparing with other pix of Duesies). Did I guess correctly? This (I guess) was the "Corvette" of its time. It may have been owned by or perhaps just attributed to Clark Gable, IDK. Last edited by Paul Workman; 06-28-2018 at 10:27 AM. |
