HEY guys, newbie here. saw this post and just wanted to join and clear the air...the owner of the yellow 94 ZR1 in the accident is a real close friend of mine(78 years young). i can assure you he was NOT driving past his limitations. he was out for a gentle sunday morning corvette exercise as he does every sunday. the last thing he remembers is a car passing him and looked down at his speedo and was it was reading 42 mph. the front left tire was flat suggesting a possible blow-out. hopefully, his memory will come back so we can find out what really happened. he only suffered minor injuries, broken left tibia, bruises, stitches etc, and is expected to be back to normal in another month or so. BTW, this was an NCRS top flight car, too! the insurance company through the corvette museum was steller in the whole process. they totaled it, obviously, and paid more than the stated value because of his driving record. how cool is that? kuddo's to the corvette museum insurance!!! ![]() Last edited by bumperkar kid; 04-06-2018 at 11:24 AM. Reason: listed a broken femur. it was the tibia bone. also it was the left front flat not the right. sorry! |

Thanks for the update! Very glad the driver is ok. Sad that he "lost" his Z, but there are others out there. I hope he can get back in one soon and finish the ride he was on..

in the copart pictures the Right front looks to be full of air. Left front has lost its bead to the rim.
Glad your friend will recover, but the damage to the car seems like more force than a 42mph hit to something

at my age and memory, i could have mixed up sides on the front tire being flat. either way, it's causing quite a storm over on the corvette forum website. i'm just trying to get the facts out there as i know them. alot of people over there are judge, jury and executioner all rolled up into one. oh well. i'm just glad he's still with us. the corvette can be replaced.

As for the tire, just helping to clear thing up. I am not one to be jury or executioner, but will judge if things don't seem right. While my opinion may say it was a faster hit than 42, I was not there At any rate, glad your friend will recover
