When I ship stuff to Canada in the past its like 4X as much.

Am I doing something wrong?

I think because the weight of the package is below a certain amount I can send first class, and not priority.

It probably also depends on the shipper and value of the items. If something is under $50 there's no duty, but if it's over that they start racking up the duty and sometimes 'brokerage' and other ways of ripping us off up here.

I think some companies add that all in to the 'shipping cost' making it look like the shipping is expensive when really it's the duty and fees. Fedex always seems to be really expensive in my experience - regular USPS surface usually seems to be about the best.

Others may have a better idea of how it works though.
