Man... they don't waste any time do they. Are sure they don't run a chop shop over there?
Any spec's on the engine they're so anxious the get their hands on? H

Re: One of our ZR-1 brothers in Japan just picked up a ZR-1 race car
Okay, so he decided he is going to keep the LT5, transmission, differential, clutch, motec computer and suspension. So some of the parts his friends bought was roof, rear acrylic resin hatch and some other parts. He said the remainder of the car will be sold very cheap that includes racing fuel tank, fuel pump, roll cage, carbon doors (quarter panels are original) front bumpers, rear bumpers, racing Kevlar seats. I guess it might be difficult for any of us to buy the chassis or otherwise with the high shipping cost and not a rolling chassis. Sorry Jeff, initially he wanted just the motor after pricing a rebuild for his street Z. These brothers in Japan are MAD and therefore their club name is MADVETTE as is the club president that frequents the Registry site. Their definition of MAD is basically crazy and the love and need for speed. He is trying to make it to the 2010 Gathering and is very serious as he even got married at a Corvette Funfest hosted by Mid America Motorworks. This is all the details I have for now. Re: One of our ZR-1 brothers in Japan just picked up a ZR-1 race car
If you can get it rolling and in to a container it can be shipped back to the states
customs shouldnt be a issue since the car was originally built in the USA I had a clown tell me it would be hard to get my corvette back into the states what a joke I laughed in his face on that one. but my shipping was free And used cars go for pretty cheap in japan something about scared about old cars?? I don't know but it a fact.

Yeah, I was surprised how fast he got it apart too and no specs on the motor yet. Not sure about the wheels, but they appear to be the Rays like most of the Zs in Japan. No chop shop and this is in his garage. We'll see what is left and might not be worth it to try to ship, but I am curious to know what year and VIN it was originally. I would like to buy the windshield.

Well, here is the VIN and it is (was) a 90 MY:
Here are better pictures of the carbon fiber doors (Jeff has first dibs on them) Not sure of prices yet and we'll see if he will post in the for sale or will want me to help him post. |

After looking at how this is done, the parts are useless unless used on a race car.
Sad to say this awesome car is being ruined. |

Jeff,
I hear ya and expressed to him that your interest was in a rolling chassis. As you stated it may even have a little history even if not in the US. I'll keep you posted of what is left even though it may not be of use to any of us. |

Have to agree with Jeff, parts should stay together, not like the doors are going to fit our cars...anybody for a second think a door panel will hang off the inside of what we're looking at? Don't think so...
