Default Re: Thoughts on these rims?

I asked for opinions on different types of rims. I didn't ask in the post if you thought the rims were cheap.

So basically you told me to buy GS GM rims and "do it the right way" in your words) which is $2,000+

So you want me to spend $1,500 more (for wheels from Japan instead of China) and still buy what you consider "cheap" rims. Makes alot of sense to me

Thanks for the geography lesson but I know Japan is not part of China. I'm basically stating that the GM rim is made in Japan which really is no different then being produced in China.

I guess you feel you need to spend $3,000 to $5,000 for decent rims. Honestly, most those rims are too over the top for my taste although a few Fiske's and HRE's are nice. The rest of them are way to blingy.

Your point is taken. Anything under $2,000 rims are Cheap. I get it!

Three other people with very nice cars have contacted me in regards to these rims.

A few thoughts:
- I haven't seen a color of a ZR-1 that I didn't like. Some colors I like more than others. A yellow ZR-1 pops!
- You'd have to work hard at finding a wheel for your car that would not look good. Whether black, chrome, polished aluminum, or any combination - they would all would look nice. Something about the combination of yellow and chrome also pops!
I know they are not for everyone but I like chrome wheels. With that said, I've had a difficult time over the years with chrome wheels holding up over time. My old muscle cars had chrome plated steel that rusted. My chrome plated aluminum eventually peel. The last amolds I had I paid a small fortune to have one of the best trick plating houses in California prep and chrome a set of OE wheels. It took 8 years but the plating finally started to peel.

I now have a set of polished aluminum CCWs. Somewhere over the years I convinced myself that chrome was "whiter" than even polished aluminum. Today, while I'd admit to them each having a different look, I'd be hard pressed to say I like one more than the other. They both pop!
- I'd go with either the chrome or polished aluminum. They'll both pop!
