Possibly more of it is savings in terms of not maintaining and storing all these? I imagine they have some staff dedicated to nothing but that.

Or maybe it's just symbolic, or perhaps they want to get rid of them before they end up part of some bankruptcy proceedings...

Good points Bob. I would say it's best to find "good homes" for the cars before the chapt 11 takes place....although, a chapt 11 judge would not let those cars go cheaply. Those judges have connections for "expert" consultation on assets of any type & class. I doubt that there would be any freebies in that liquidation.

I'll bet that if one looked hard enough thru the GM annual report that one might find the line item charge for the maintenance of that collection, unless it's a seperate corporation.

It's still a sad day to me that the situation has come to this point....not just GM, but the domestic auto mfg's as a group.

It would be interesting to know just how many cars G.M. has that they have set aside for historical reasons.

Downpayment made, waiting for paperwork, alittle nervous about an on-line purchase but I stopped by the dealership(cold call) out east and test drove the car..........now I just need to dig my way out of the doghouse.

Maybe if I bought one of the shuttles I could park my cars inside....hmmmmmm

Question Re: How bad is it at GM

i don't understand why G.M. just didn't do their own auction on site in Sterling Heights MI. & forget about B-J? build it up for six months then get er' started. to me it comes back to showing they are serious about getting help (bailout) now. must be?
