So, let me get this straight. In addition to the hood prop rod, There are mounts for two gas pressurized hood supports on my 91'? That hood has always been a rather heavy lift since new.
The original struts on the rear glass are not working well either, so I guess it's time to get some new ones, front and rear.

How the hell did I own this car for 22 years and not know about about the ones available for up front??

Yep! I feel the same way, Bob. But, then the hood on my 90 isn't bad at all w/ the prop rod it has had since I bought the car in 07. So, I never investigated anything else, far as lift support struts. The hood on Ami's 91, on the other hand...

We got the new prop rod for the hood and gas struts for the hatch a couple days ago. I'll put 'em in today and let ya know how they work; the prop rod alone, sans the auxiliary struts (discontinued for the MY '90+ Vettes).

The '91 has gas struts for the hood originally? I only have the one hood strut, and opening the hood has always been an easy one handed job.... Here lately when I pop the hood, it unlatches but doesn't pop open.

Pretty sure the small struts were on C4s thru 88.
My 89 & 90 (ZR-1), did not have them but the mounting studs were there.
Not sure after that... They're about 8" long compressed.
Mine came from LiftSupportsDepot.com
PN 4003 31113 (from the stickers that were on them that I saved)
About $8-9 a piece (If I remember correctly...)
A couple washers and "pins" from the local hardware store and
you're in business.

Even though that PN is what was on the stickers, I'd check 1st before ordering.
I used "88 Corvette" when searching.

I want those two mini struts on mine along with the regular hood strut...I think that'd make it even easier to lift...
