Re: Intoducing Bill Lears 63 SW LT5
Beautiful car.
Years ago, I had the chance to really hammer a split window with an LT5 in it. Kevin Sack, a hardcore drag racer from my home town of Erie Pa. built it. It was a gorgeous Riverside Red coupe with black interior, 67' Big Block hood with white spear, (I don't think the original hood will fit with an LT5 aboard), Polished plenum, and a 5 speed trans. It looked like a relatively stock split window, with BFG Radial T/A's on 63' style aluminum knock off wheels. The body was outstanding. The motor was a stock 375hp unit, with headers, 3" stainless exhaust that exited the rear with 4-63' style outlets, (that looked way better than you would think). The frame and suspension were relatively stock 63' with modern shocks and grand sport HD springs up front. We all love the LT5, and I think the 63' split window is a work of art. But, and it's a big BUT, that thing was scary, handling wise. I hope Bill get's his all sorted out before he gets frisky with it. Because I felt a lot safer after I got back in the seat of my ZR-1. |
