I use MY sometimes because I have had people who say that because a vehicle HAS to be made in the year it is designated in. Like a 1996 car HAS to be made in 1996 to be included in MY1996, which is obviously not true.
As we all know the MY run of a vehicle often runs well outside of the actual calendar year. Kinda like fiscal year (FY),

What's the purpose? It drives me nuts. I'm a little nuts anyway and this just pushes the issue. LOL
About as annoying as people who say VIN number.

Or RPM's?
Revolutions Per Minute "s"

or Cash Money. "I'll buy that from you if you take cash money."

or "Irregardless" " I want it done, irregardless of what happens."

Of course the pronunciation of the word "ask" as "aks" or "axe". "I want to aks you a question."

or the pronunciation of "supposedly" as "supposably" "She was supposably at home today." That one really drives me wild.

peace

Oh, and the proper usage is "supposed to", not "suppose to". As in, I was supposed to run my car at the track this weekend, but now I have a flat tire.

Fellow grammar and spelling Nazis, unite!

The worst:

"He went missing". You can go driving, you can go fishing,
but you can't go missing.

If people are going to use Model Year in abbreviated form it should be M.Y. 1993 and most are too lazy for that. The expression which has crept into language from the kids that just gets under my skin and irritates is when someone says, "You know, like I really dig that blood red color," or "Like, wow, dude." Lazy people using words badly......"like, disgusting."
