Re: New car scanner
I would love to go to a track, but I'm worried about destroying my very expensive tires. And Dyno's are expensive too, lol. I've heard a track wears tires quickly. Is that true?

Re: New car scanner
Just don't do a burnout and its no different than driving on the street . The track is usually $25 for the night ... depending on where you go you can run between 2-5 times.
The Dyno is $75 for 3 "pulls" around these parts. It will tell you peak hp/tq at your wheels ... and your Air/Fuel ratio , as well as your power curves. I think its money well spent ---

Re: New car scanner
Well I have an update about this software. After weeks of fooling around I finally got it working properly, with the help of a programmer from EFI=D>. Here's some screen shots of the datalogging I did.
You can input up to 4 items in each chart and there's 4 charts. There's also 16 inputs for the virtual dash (I didn't use all of spots for dash or charts). You can save everything and play it back in real time. There's also DTC you can view and reset, and lots of other stuff; spark advance, throttle position, etc.. The software also comes with TunerPro RT. It does the same things as EFIV4 but you can also re-burn your PROM. I haven't dove into this one yet, but now that I got EFI working I now know I can get the Tuner Pro to work too. Overall I would recommend this product and the EFIV4. It does require a bit of computer saavy (I'm no computer programmer though) and don't expect immediate responses when asking for help from support. The help will definitly come, but there's a day or two+ for response time. It cost $97 for the software, $35 for OBD II USB adapter cord, and $60 for the OBD I USB adapter cord (certain OBD I cars will need different cords). Not bad for $192. You get the ability to look into any cars ECM from late 80's-present and re-burn chips too, if that's your thing. There's also the virtual dyno for OBD II vehicles (my OBD II vehicles are a Dodge pick-up and Ford Escape. Don't think I'll use it on them, lol).

Re: New car scanner
The GUI screenshots look good; anything you're NOT liking about the set-up there JV???
Easy to navigate? Looks like Linux / UNIX is no problem...

Re: New car scanner
I felt it was worth it because it works on OBD I and II. Customer support has much to be desired, but overall I feel it was money well spent.
