Must be that Hulk-like physique you have... you're stomping too hard on the pedal!

Glad you got it fixed!

Yun,
Glad you're back up running again.
A new page in the annuls of ZR-1 part failure experiences.
We've heard of clutch forks bending however, this is the first one I recall of breaking.
Having personally inspected that fork a few months ago when we changed the DM flywheel out, and given the symptoms, I was confident the TO bearing had parted like Jim's did a while back. I was totally surprised then to see the clean fatigue break across the rivet hole. I meant to give it a closer look, but was there any evidence at the rivet hole that is was starting to break before it totally failed?

What would you be looking for? From behind the wheel it took one clutch depression from perfect to "what the he**?!

If you recall the pivot stud was chewed up pretty bad when we took it apart the last time. Using clutch w/ chewed up stud could have been putting extra stress on the fork.

Yun,
In the main break area you see clean white steel.
Appears the fracture started at the rivet hole. Is the surface condition in the rivet hole vacinty just as clean or does it look like a small fatigue crack may have developed before the major failure occured?

I have the failed fork on the WAZOO "trophy" wall. I will inspect it and try to determine if there are any indicators that could be used to inspect forks when access is available. I will let you know.

Thanks Jim. Someone is keeping failed parts w/ intention of post-falure forensics - me? I just chuck it out.
Great to have engineers around...
