Not only is Phillip's car very fast and sound great, it is pristine!
Even out in the desert it is spotless, shiny, and polished inside
and out. He keeps it like a waxer, but runs it like a racer. Plus,
he let his son race his car! What a guy..........
PS- Thanks for the beers!

You guys need to go out and run the mile. That is where our cars perform!

My question is what would happen after the mile? Where would both top out at? We say life begins at 180 mph so were do we stop vs the porsche?

Life may begin at 180mph for our cars but that's also were it ends. Unless you have a tuner car. I saw and old Lingenfelter video on discovery channel and they clocked a yellow 415 ZR-1 with a radar gun at 218 mph. But stock 176 to 180 is it for our cars.

fwiw, in the pizza box for my 90 there is another owner's manual for a ZR-1. It's not the same as the one in the glove box. Anyway I remember it saying 177....I assume that is for a 90.

My 90 ZR-1 did 179mph before top end porting. It just didn't have anymore to give.

But after top end porting 181mph. The ZR-1 performance chart on this site shows top speeds of low 170's to high 170"s so they do vary a bit depending on the car it seems. Could be the wieght of the driver also. 300lb man vs 180lb man makes a difference.

How long a distance did it take you to get up to speed? And then slow down? And where?

Doomed! Best way to lighten the car? Forget Lexan, forget gutting the car, forget bleeding fuel. - Go on a diet!

Im not sure because I started from a 107mph cruising speed then when it was clear ahead I burried my foot to the floor and hit 153 and had to slow down to pass a Mercedes and a Volkwagon GTI. After that it was clear sailing. It gets up to 160 pretty quick. After that its about a mph a second. That was a snapshot from the video I posted about 4 years ago. And yes it was on a public toll road. It wasn't at any race track that's for sure.
Also these cars speedometers have a slight lag to them. The mph numbers seem to have to catch up to the engine rpms.
