Craig,
Keep me in mind when you return and if you plan to sell yours. Did you ever use it or just picked one up with future plans? Is the one mentioned from CorvetteNutz of equal quality? Not trying to highjack thr Op's thread but I'm also interested in this mod. Thanks!

Hello Jim,

I don't want to make a commitment to anyone for this item, especially since I don't know when exactly I will go back (pending a job to extend here). But here is some info I found about it if you want to try to locate one in the meanwhile: Part number 10265938 - described as RR BPR IMP BAR - GM part book at 7-K4, item 36. The bolt is 11504611 - M8X1.25X20 (four needed)

I think I saw where Robert was going to possible try to get the OEM one duplicated? They show up every once in awhile. I want to say mine was special ordered from gmpartsdirect.com some years ago. It is new and never installed. I could not figure out how it would mount to early model year cars even with bumper cover removed so I decided not to mess with it. Best wishes.

Craig

It definitely weighs less than the spare. The CorvetteNutz one weighs about 11 pounds according to them, but I thought less and should have weighed it before install. Not sure what the OEM one weighs, but around the same and quite light.

According to Marc's site about weight reduction:

Spare 37 lbs
Jack 6 lbs
Jack Handle 2 lbs
Tire bag 3.4 lbs
Spare tire carrier and brackets 9.5 lbs

So I guess it depends on how much you will remove and what is added back in because of no spare (like a fix a flat, etc.) I wonder how it affect balance of the car or traction?

No worries Craig and thanks for the info! I'm sure if Robert made a duplicate model it would be of equal quality, if not better!

Jim,

You could also consider contacting Shaun "Sparky" and he is great to work with. They have a lot of R & D on this and has a lot of knowledge about what and why it seems:

In late 93 they put two holes in the center of the rear sub frame/cross member not a different design, just added holes. I've heard many people talk about 94-96 difference, it's just the rear impact bar. In 96 was the only year for the impact from GM for the run flats. I'm still yet to see run flats on a 94' 95'. The main reason for the hanger bracket on our design is that it should align up with all 84-96 rear spare tire hanger brackets

Best Regards,

I will be home on Wednesday night. I will run to the shop and see what the guy wants to replicate the tire delete that I have. I will also include photos.
