Are those a Michelin Pilot Sport version that have not been made in a very long time (like at least ten years or more)? If so, I wonder if the tires had anything to do with the crash.

If they are Michelin Pilot Sport, they are not the latest design. Just bought a new set yesterday and the tread pattern is quite different. If you’re going to haul a$$, your tires shouldn’t be more than 5 years old, as many of you have told me!

Yep, last gen design of the Pilot Sport. Could have had something to do with it, likely hard as rocks.

I researched the weather that morning and it was 39 degrees. I know from experience summer tires have no grip at that temperature. Plus as you mentioned really old Michelin’s! Put them together and you loose your ride and almost your life.

Hi guys,

I think I have found "conclusive" evidence that this was a 1994 ZR-1 that was totaled.

Corvette Blogger had a link to a local paper that supplied about 7 pictures from the accident.

http://www.thepress.net/news/driver-...01a078b94.html

From the pictures, we see that the car has the updated, last design '94-'95 interior ('94 - '96).

In the first picture, if you click on the picture (to enlarge it), I think you will see the underside of the side gill, which is the '91 to '94 style.

So, it appears that a '94 Competition Yellow/black ZR-1 has bit the dust.

Your thoughts?

No aluminum front spring guards like my 94.

You can see in picture #5 the filler in the license plate frame and ZR-1 emblem on the bumper.

Yes. The 94 identification comes from the side gill laying on the ground in the lower rigbt hand corner of the first pic along with later interior pics.
