Re: Part Number for ignition module connector
I usually bring out my assortment of small files for this problem ...

Re: Part Number for ignition module connector
I MAY have found something that will work - will update as soon as I receive the part.

Re: Part Number for ignition module connector
Using a '94MY FSM the connector for C3 is a 12059612 (empty connector), using some GM SPO information the PT472 is considered a "service replacement" for that connector. "Service replacement" doesn't mean "exact match"! Wire gauges supplied maybe lighter/heavier but considered "suitable".
I don't use many "pig-tails" when I need specialty connectors I usually try to source the empty connector, use terminals, seals individually and assemble it OR using a release tool transfer the terminal from the original to the replacement. NO CUT AND SPLICE!! I keep a '94 FSM for the reference information to the connectors. I buy from several sources that don't have the 12059612 but look here: http://avilaelectronics.com/ I linked to the home page, click on the search tool and you'll see 13,000 +! I didn't try the phone number and I also likely won't. Someone can post back! Here's the Delphi "tool" I use for most of my projects. Instead of linking you directly to the 12059612 here's a "start page" and you can enter the 12059612 in the search block. Here you'll find correct terminals for various wire gauges (note the metric values), seals, release tool information, 2d and 3d prints if available, material composition etc. http://connectors.delphi.com/dcsgdmcs/homepage.aspx Most FSM's beginning in MY'94/95 or later display "empty connector" information to facilitate harness repairs. Do I use "pig tails"? Sure but not often. I found some other 280 connectors that I believe would do but I don't have them in my hand so I didn't reference them! FORGOT TO MENTION: Check the "line drawing" under prints etc! Last edited by WVZR-1; 04-09-2011 at 10:43 AM. |

Re: Part Number for ignition module connector
I have ordered a bare connector earlier this morning, I was previously looking for a pigtail since I didn't have the crimping tools, but I figured this is a good excuse to make the investment. I know that PT472 will fit into the ignition module receptacle. However, the clip design does not appear to be able to fit over the retaining nub on the ignition module. I could be mistaken, perhaps it's able to be "rigged" to fit in a way that it wasn't designed for.

I'd be interested if someone could check a '95MY FSM for connector information for the ICM. The '94MY seems to have errors. Transitioning from bare connectors to "pig-tails" and also some of the replacing part #'s for empty connectors don't seem to agree or be able to be confirmed. Re: Part Number for ignition module connector
If one would like to make the investment for the tools to work on the connectors used on our cars what would those tools be called? Weather Pack tools?
TIA Tom
