We didn't get to the INFL REST job. We got side tracked trying to figure why the Theft Deterrent alarm goes off on my 1994 ZR-1 when I open the door with the key from the driver's side.

Jim, their is a switch on the back side of the lock cyl that is more than likely broken.

If you can not reach the door handle bolts drop the door latch to acess the bolts

Thanks, that is good info. I guess the switch tells the Theft Deterrent System that the locks are open because the key was used. Is that the way it works?

Jim,

Let me know when you decide to tackle the INFL REST issue. Mine is doing the same thing.

Can do!

Maybe we should assemble two crack maintenance teams and see who can fix the problem first. A side-by-side maintenance race for a case of beer.

What do you think?

Just a fwiw on the INFLREST code clearing. The hardest part of the job for me was clearing the code once the grounding issues at the sensors were resolved. I don't have a Tech1A, and my snap-on scanner will not clear that code because I don't have that cartridge with the SIR software.

I made a momentary switch from a door bell and used phone wire so I could plug the leads into the ALDL. I was having trouble with the FSM's listed time duration when you ground and then unground the ALDL pins. There seems to me to have been very little wiggle room and I never got it correct. That's why I made the door bell switch and used a watch to count off the seconds. Got it the first time which was sweet considering I tried like 20 times using the "one- one- thousand, two- one thousand" method with no joy.
